Wood Treatments
All of our greenhouses and cedar coldframes are stained using a clear wood stain before they are delivered and installed. We recommend that our greenhouses are retreated every 4 to 5 years.
Cedar naturally fades and goes silvery grey as it is exposed to UV and rain, however, there are products that can slow and reverse this process.
We have used the wood protective treatments of Barrettine for many years and are a stockist of their products.

Wood Protective Treatment
This can be used to help protect the timber on your greenhouse or coldframes, we recommend that this is done every 4 to 5 years.

Wood Reviver
This can be used to reverse the fading and silvering that naturally occurs to cedar as it exposed to the elements.
Barretine says
“Wood Reviver is a water-based formulation containing oxalic acid, a biodegradable organic acid found naturally in plants such as rhubarb and spinach. It will turn back the clock, restoring grey, UV-damaged wood to its original warm tones. Wood Reviver can also rescue wood from stains caused by tannin runs, watermarks, iron, rust and light dirt.
Ready to use formulation is low VOC and free from chlorine bleach. Its easy application gives results quickly, saving the labour, mess and dust of heavy sanding.”

Armourflex® Ultimate UV Protection Oil
Using this straight after installation of greenhouse or coldframe will help to retain the original cedar colour of the greenhouse and keep it looking newer for longer. Can also be used after using Wood Reviver which helps restore the timber to an original colour.
